Bible Kids Fun Zone Preschool Sunday School Lesson - Noah's Ark

NOAH'S ARK FUN PACK SAMPLE - DAY 1 - PRE-K/K- NOAH'S BIG JOB

(SAMPLE LESSON ONLY - some crafts are only available once you purchase the Noah's Ark Fun Pack).

Teacher Prep: Assemble toy tools before starting (hammer and nails, saw, ax, a paint bucket, and a brush). If you have enough for each child, that would be ideal. If not, you can use these paper tools for the children: tools, more tools. Tell the children they can use their tools and make the sounds with you when the different tools are used in the story. Alternatively, you can also use the Stand-Up Noah Craft from the Day 1 Craft Page , and Stick the tools on Noah (using restickable glue sticks on the back of the tools). You can also show the coloring pages of Noah Listened, Noah builds and Noah carrying tar when you tell the story. If using a bulletin board, go to the Bulletin Board page for tips on how to make ark.

Mark your Bible with the Bible Memory Verse, and read before the lesson: Hebrews 11:7

Day 1 Lesson - Noah's Big Job

Intro: First, let's go over the Bible memory verse. After that, I have a great story to tell you. We'll hear the first part of the story today, then each week (or day) we will hear another part of the story. We will have some fun actions to do each day. At the end of the story, we will have talk time, then we can make some tools like Noah had, and you can play with them!

Soon after God made all the people, the people started to ignore God. Nobody listened to God anymore, and nobody obeyed God anymore; No one except....there was one man who loved God and listened to God. Noah was the only one who still believed in God, and obeyed God. God was very sad about all the people who were not listening to Him, so He decided he would flood the whole earth to get rid of all the people who weren't listening, God had a perfect plan to keep Noah safe. God would save Noah and his family.

But, first, God had a big job for Noah to do. It was not a job for just anybody. It was a really big job. God picked Noah to build a big, huge boat called an ark. This very big boat would keep Noah and his family, and the animals safe when God would send the rain to wipe out the earth. So, what do you think Noah did? Noah listened, and he did just exactly what God told him to do. Noah didn't really even know how to build the big boat. Who would tell Noah how to build the boat? Do you think Noah should worry about that? No-o-o-o (shake your head no). Noah didn't have to worry. God had it all planned out. God would tell Noah exactly how to build the big boat.

God told him how high to build the boat (lift one hand high and one hand low). He told him how wide to make the boat (place your arms far apart). God even showed Noah how many rooms to put in the boat.. Let's count together...(Start with a fist, and put up one finger at a time as you count.) 1...2...3...4....5). Maybe there were even more...we're not sure, but Noah knew because God told him. God even showed him how big to make the door and how many windows to put on the boat. God told Noah everything he needed to know.

Now lets pretend that we're building the big boat with Noah. I'll show you how. Noah got busy right away. He would need his hammer and nails. Does everyone have your hammer? - here we go: Noah nailed the boards together. Wham! Wham! Wham! (Pretend to hammer). Then, he got his ax to cut the wood. Everybody get your axes. Chop, chop, chop! (Pretend to chop with ax). Then Noah went and got his saw to cut out some windows. Zzzzzz! Zzzzz! Zzzzz! (Pretend to use your saw). Everything that God told Noah to do, Noah did it. Noah built the boat just exactly like God told him to. It was taking Noah a long, long time to build the boat, but Noah didn't stop. Noah kept going.

Noah kept building and...and God helped Noah. God helped Noah chop some more wood. Everybody get your ax (Use your ax). Whack, whack, whack! God helped Noah hammer the nails. Everybody get your hammer (Use your hammer). Wham! Wham! Wham! And God helped Noah cut out the windows. Everybody get your saw). Zzzzzz! Zzzzz! Zzzzz! There! We're done!.... Oops...not quite....There's one more thing...

We don't want the boat to leak, do we? God told Noah to put a coat of pitch on the ark, inside and outside. Pitch is is thick and black, and its kind of like glue. This would help the ark float, and not leak. So, Noah went and got his paint brush and a bucket of tar. Everybody get your paintbrushes! (Make strokes back and forth with your paintbrush). Noah took the paintbrush and dipped it in the tar. Splish, splash...swoosh, swash! Drip, drip... Splish, splash...swoosh, swash! Drip, drip...Noah painted the boat with a thick layer of tar inside and outside. Now the boat was waterproof! Now the boat wouldn't sink! Noah listened to God, and did everything just like God told him to.

(Hold your hands out and up, as if to say hooray). Hooray! Finally they did it! The big boat was finished! Noah and his family sure were glad when they saw the big boat was all done! What a big job it was! But he didn't do it all by himself. God was with Noah the whole time he was building, and He helped Noah build the ark. And because Noah listened to God, and obeyed, now Noah and his family and all the animals would have a nice, cozy place to stay when God would send the big flood to wipe out the earth and everything in it.

Did you know that, sometimes, God has a big job for you to do, too? God wants us to listen when he gives a job to do. He wants us to obey him. Sometimes we know what God would like us to do because he tells us in the Bible. One thing God wants all of us to do is to tell others about Him. We read in the Bible that Noah was a preacher. Noah told people about God too, and he warned them about the flood coming. There are lots of jobs that God might want you to do; and we know that God is pleased when we do what He tells us to.

TRANSITION: Thank you all for listening. Did you like the story? Now we'll have talk time and say a prayer. Then we can do some fun crafts and activities! And, be sure to come back next week for the rest of the story about Noah!
